Liverpool are in talks to sign defender Ibrahima Konate this summer, while the Reds reportedly have no interest in either Kylian Mbappe or Jadon Sancho.
Ibrahima Konate has said he wants to join Liverpool – and is now expected to complete a £36million deal before next week.
The Reds have decided to trigger Konate’s release clause at RB Leipzig after making the 22-year-old their chief target as they look to bolster their centre-back options.
It is understood the player has already agreed personal terms having indicated his desire to move to Anfield.
And the transfer is likely to be completed within the next 48 hours with Konate becoming Jurgen Klopp’s first major signing of the summer.
Liverpool are reportedly not interested in signing either Kylian Mbappe or Jadon Sancho this summer.
Both have been linked with moves to Anfield in the past, with Sancho also being linked with Manchester United.
While Mbappe has also been touted as a possible target for Real Madrid, with his PSG contract set to expire next summer.
However, James Pearce of The Athletic is reporting the prospect of signing Mpappe or Sancho have been dismissed by senior officials at the club.
He wrote:
“Talk of trying to prise either Kylian Mbappe away from Paris Saint-Germain or Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund has been dismissed by senior club sources.”
Liverpool are reportedly holding a meeting with Yves Bissouma’s agent today.
That is according to Anfield Central, who are reporting that Liverpool will meet with Bissouma’s agent at their London offices on Friday to discuss what it would take to attract him to Anfield.
Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is said to be a huge fan of the Mali international, who has also been touted as a possible replacement for Wijnaldum.
Bissouma is contracted until summer 2023, but Graham Potter, speaking earlier this week, refused to assure his side’s fans that the midfielder would remain with the club.
He’s contract with us. As far as I know he’s going to report to pre-season like everyone else.
“But it’s football. Like anything, in the summer we have to make some good decisions and improve the football club.”
RB Leipzig defender Ibrahima Konate has reporedly completed his Liverpool medical.
That is according to ESPN, who claim the defender has completed his medical and will sign a five-year contract with the Reds after this summer’s Under-21 European Championship.
As reported by the ECHO earlier this week, Konate is the Reds’ primary target as they seek to conclude a deal that could be worth around £40million.
Konate is currently on international duty for France’s Under-21 side with their European Championship quarter-final clash with Holland set for Monday evening.
Fenerbahce have made an offer for Xherdan Shaqiri but are being told by Liverpool they need to stump up some cash, according to a report.
Turkish-football.com cites Sabah as claiming that the Istanbul-based outfit want the Swiss international on loan but with an option to buy at the end of the season.
The Reds aren’t having any of that though and are demanding a permanent deal from the start with a €7million (just over £6million) asking price for the 29-year-old.
